A Sunday Out....
Last Sunday I celebrated both of my G-parents' Birthdays in a one stop shop kinda dinner. My parents thought it would be great to take them some place where they would make fun of them while at the same time paying lots of money for them to do so. It worked like a charm!
I couldn't help but think these fancy napkins look like they're giving us the ol' middle finger.
And this is Jose, not the name you might expect from a Japanese restaurant, but he was FABulous!
Happy Birthdays to you my G-Parents and may you continue to argue with me about politics and teaching until the end of time :)

Far away in a Distant Land of 9 to 5...
In a distant land... far far away... Blueberry Deluxe has a 9 to 5 job. And although that job is absolutely fabulous, it can take me away from my personal hobbies every once in awhile.
I thought it'd be nice to share some of the life with you a bit more. These are what my brave new kiddos have been working on in the last couple of weeks. A little bit ago I had shared some images of their progress on the cardboard mansion. The bottom image is it at its almost final moment. They'll have to do a little more to the outside (it still seems a little more like a box than a house) but all-in-all I couldn't really be prouder. My little guys did a good job :)
The top two images are the new project they've started. Tracing each other through plexi glass and transferring them to paper as a mono print. Life is good.
3rd in the lineup is a 7th grade project. Non-objective watercolors. Boy those kids are always surprised when I'm not expecting them to make things look "real". I feel it really empowers them.
And now onto some business...
I was featured in the newspaper! The Arizona Republic to be exact.... and for those of you who don't live here that's a mighty popular newspaper! So thrilling to be featured. I can't thank my customers enough for all the support they've given me and the store!

Summer in Full Swing
Even at 8 in the evening, this is how bright it is in Phoenix. And yes... the cement is still hot. You'll notice, second to last photo, is that of bare feet in the grass, not the cement!
Blueberry has a hard time in the heat as well. Those of you with pugs (which is oddly A LOT of bloggers :)) know that pugs are really sensitive.
But one thing I will always ALWAYS look forward to is that Arizona sunset. Unbeatable.

It's Always Sunny in Arizona
I spent a good two days changing some things around in the shop. I think I almost drove Mr. Blueberry crazy :) None-the-less I'm very happy with the way everything worked out!
I have been dying to wear my old worn-in oxfords for awhile now! I had purchased these cute little lacy foldover socks a couple of months and they were just... waiting... patiently for me to put the to use.
So yesterday I matched the two up and if I don't say so myself, they look quite dashing with each other, even thought they're matched up with my not-so-Arizonian white legs!

New Kid on the Color Block
I've been obsessed with big chunks of color. As per my earlier post, it seems as though I've been leaning towards simple pieces. Those basic items that I used to completely ignore.
I've also been OBSESSING over my new haircut. I absolutely love how dynamic it is. It was cute here, locally at the Beehive Beauty Parlor!

Blog Shout out! Cracking Good
I have realized most recently that there are some damn fine blogs out there. Since opening up my B&M store in Phoenix I have especially been in awe at all the local blogs.
Carrie from CrackingGood.com has ALWAYS announced things I'm doing at my store and different local events that are happening. She also puts together some really cute, glamorous and funny montages of home decor, seasonal fashion and many other things to boot!

Carrie! We give you the "wag" of appreciation here at Blueberry Deluxe!
Keep on keepin' on!
Check out her blog here.
"Man Up" Time
I remember back in the day when I used to go thrift store shopping... or any shopping for that matter, I used to look for the most ridiculous patterns and prints. EVERYTHING had to be uber-unique. I'm sort of straying away from that as of late. I realize that lately especially, I've been reaching for those basic colors and cuts.
But don't think I don't still get those unique items! I actually find that now I can USE THEM much more often than before. The trick is... utilizing those basics in a way that allows the unique items to pop. Don't get me wrong... I will still to this day utilize WAY too many items at once, but I'm definitely calming it down :)
So here you see me in a simple white men's tee, brown librarian skirt and then POP! teal leggings and cheetah shoes. (I also stole that brown belt from the bf to try and get more of a high-waisted paper bag look for the skirt)

Skirt - Thrifted
Belt - bf closet
Leggings - FABulous store in Colorado I can't remember the name of

Community Garden Project
Can I just say that I absolutely ADORE my landlord? He has been trying get a Community Garden put into this barren lot next to our building (Melrose) and he and his friend have created a project on the Pepsi Refresh site.
Now that a couple of weeks have passed, he has decided to shack up on the corner... putting up signs and setting up internet to get people to vote! You gotta give the guy credit, at least he's willing to put all his effort into the project!!!
Here's Kurt and Darren next to their wee camping site on the corner.
To find out more about this project go to:
And please go to:
www.refresheverything.com and search for "Melrose" in order to find out project.
ANYONE IN THE NATION can VOTE! ANYONE 13 YEARS AND OLDER can VOTE!
And you can VOTE ONCE A DAY EVERYDAY :)

New Hair, New Store, New Life
For those of you who follow my blog, I've been going through some major life changes as of late. In December of last year I decided to start up my own little boutique in downtown Phoenix. Crazy!?! Yes. Necessary?!? ABSOLUTELY.
So in February I opened up shop on 7th Ave. and Montecito, right in the heart of the Melrose Vintage District. So far I love it! Up and down and left and right I love it!
But now that things have had time to sort of quiet down and the school year is coming to an end I can broaden my horizons past my store and back to things I really miss. I used to update this blog like crazy with outfits and I'd like to start that back up... at least for the summer.
So here goes!

Get ready for GAME NIGHT!
I have just recently met up with Eric Torres, indie game designer and creator of Iconica, a role playing card game. The graphics and colors are absolutely amazing and the game play is sensational!
But the most interested part is the whole philosophy Torres puts into his game. For one thing, he believes in small community and culture. He wants (much like I do) communities to come together more often and play face to face. The gaming world has really turned into a lonely state of affairs with little actual social climate. This game combines the two.... gaming and face to face social interaction.
I was also blown away when Torres began to tell me about the creation of all this graphics. Apparently all the images are created from the same 8 images. His philosophy is that we are only given a certain amount of things throughout our life and it is best and most creative when we use this limited supply to create unimaginably unique creations. You gotta love it!
So come meet Eric Torres in PERSON at BLUEBERRY DELUXE BOUTIQUE.

I don't know about you...
....But I love checking out Regresty.com when I need a good internet laugh. April Winchell is explosive laughter hilarious with her comments on various Etsians and their "goods". I know some people tend to hold grudges against this site because they consider it slander. However I like to look on the bright side of things. Due to her cult following, when April places a post on an item, no matter how miserable it may be, it's popularity rises to incredibly numbers and more than likely will sell due to her notice of it ALONE. Not only that, but she is now taking items and auctioning them off for charity. If you ask me, she's doing more good for Etsians than others try to claim.
Now on to the IMPORTANT part. April has GIVEN ME copies of her books FOR MY STORE!!! That's right.... GIVEN! I got in touch with her on Facebook and she immediately came to my aid. I think I has a new found ultimate respect for her.
April Winchell.... you ROCK!
